As you can see, the bridge movie is slowly but surely coming together. Be aware the above is just raw footage organized into sequences – there is no color correction, no sound editing, no music, and no narration!
So happy Kumi Na Tano! This day is all about my wonderful WSO supporters! I take the 15th of every month to be especially thankful. I have only been able to adventure this past year because I have such wonderful people behind me! Thank you!
Please let this be a reminder to you monthly supporter types that if you haven’t sent in your July support, now is the time to get on that!

Thanks a lot! Stay tuned as the bridge film continues to make progress.
Half of June complete! It’s been a great month home, wishing my brother and new sister-in-law the best at their wedding, and meeting my new nephew, Sebastian! I’ve also been importing hours and hours of Kenya video for the bridge film that’s coming together slowly but surely.
But it’s Kumi Na Tano, so this entry is all about my wonderful WSO supporters! I take the 15th of every month to be especially thankful. I have only been able to adventure this past year because I have such wonderful people behind me! Thank you!

Thanks a lot! Stay tuned for some of the dailies from the bridge movie.
It’s May’s Kumi Na Tano, and I’m back in Ohio! I’ve been home for about 12 days so far, and am still plugging away at getting somewhat comfortable here in America. Baseball, friends, and family certainly helps. Soon the film editing work begins, and then I will have more to share here.

With my great fish eye lens, I can take self portraits that include tall buildings, or in this case, tall bridge towers!
So happy Kumi Na Tano! April halfway through its journey, huh?
I write you now from the camp near the Galana bridge site. This is my last visit to the site while it’s still being constructed. Next time I see it, it will be finished!
But enough about me. I can get to that another time. This entry is all about YOU! Well, if YOU are a supporter of JustInKenya and WSO that is.
I take the 15th of every month to be especially thankful. I am only able to be here on this adventure because I have such a wonderful cast of generous people behind me! Thank you!

Watch how I spent my birthday yesterday here in New York
As you can tell, I’ve been in New York for the past few days. I have a couple more to go before returning to Kenya. I’ll let you read past entries to get up to speed.
So much has happened since the last Kumi Na Tano, and so much could happen by the next Kumi Na Tano. Exciting times!
But we take each day one at a time here in JustInKenyaLand, and that means that today it is time to remember how I am here today, reporting on the things I have been enabled to do by gracious, generous supporters to me and to WSO. Thank you!

Ring in my first 2009 Kenya Kumi Na Tano (which means 15 in Kiswahili) with that video I shot yesterday in Kibera (see previous entry)!
Things are really great and moving along brilliantly after my first week back. The plan right now is to host a month-long film production workshop in April! I’ll be partnering with Hot Sun and hope to ring in the Film Commission this week.
But enough about me! It’s Kumi Na Tano, my monthly support reminder! I rely on you faithful people who can’t be here with me (but still want to vicariously be a part of things with a tiny part of their income each month).

If you have already sent stuff my way this month, rock on! I appreciate you remembering me! If you have not sent your February support yet, you should do so now! Thanks!
The first of 2009! I’m still out in LA and have had some minor setbacks, but have a little more to get to before really assessing my trip. I’ll get to that later. It’s Kumi Na Tano!

Hello! This is my first American Kumi Na Tano ever! I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things, albeit temporarily, for my holiday stay in Ohio. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I felt a little strange and out of place at times.
The holiday season is a great time to be home, though, and I’ve enjoyed catching up with friends, family, and cats! Perhaps I’ll run into you while I’m here, too?

Hello midpoint of November! That picture there is from sunset on the Galana River from the campsite we stay at while working on the bridge. Maybe you can see the rapids and how flooded it is these days!
It’s definitely bridge time again here in JustInKenya Land. We hope to spend the next 3 weeks solidly at work here. We want to get our 2nd foundation out of the ground! It’s been tough with the flooded river, though. Hopefully I can get some pictures up for you all soon.

Un-bowl-weevil-able! Not much more to say about that! Because you can already guess how amazed I am that this is my 6th Kumi Na Tano here in Kenya!
The past month has been very busy. We had 3 solid weeks at the bridge site and have made progress towards getting ready for our steel towers! Check out some images at Bridging the Gap (notice a similar web design there?).
I’ve spent the past week off making a short film and working more on my novel (remember that?). The movie is going to be an application piece for Columbia’s film program, as well as just a fun cinematographical exercise to put FCP to use.
